Chillies

Capsicum annuum; Capsicum chinense; Capsicum frutescens


There are several genus of chillies. Most chillies, like Thai chillies, jalapenos and long chillies are part of the genus ‘annuum’, which also features the capsicums. Scotch bonnets and habanero chillies are part of the ‘chinense’ genus, which offers the hottest chillies available.

Only the fruit of chillies are edible! Flowers, greens and shoots should not be consumed because they contain a toxin.
