Radicchio

Cichorium intybus var. foliosum


 A type of chicory, radicchio is a purple leaf vegetable, with colourful white-veined leaves forming a head. It has a bitter taste. Radicchio is often called Italian chicory. Similar in appearance to a small head of lettuce or cabbage, it is a staple in Mediterranean diets and is commonly eaten raw in salads or grilled/roasted to mellow its flavor.
